Citizen credit card loaded: 1.61 trillion TL increase in January
There was a record increase in card payments. In January, transactions made with credit, debit and prepaid cards in Turkey reached 1.61 trillion TL. Online payments increased by 70 percent and contactless payments by 82 percent. The Banking Card Center (BKM) announced the card payment data for January 2025. While transactions made with credit, debit and prepaid cards in Turkey reached 1.61 trillion TL , the total number of payments was 1.58 billion. There was a significant increase in contactless and online payments in particular . CARD USAGE IS INCREASING RAPIDLY According to BKM data, the total number of cards in Turkey increased by 10 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching 438.9 million.
